What if someone is thinking about suicide?
In this section, there is information about the warning signs a person might exhibit if he or she is suicidal and how you might take action to save a life. There is also a detailed outline of suicide prevention, intervention, and treatment information that will be useful to people who serve in various roles in the community, from clergy to co-workers, teachers to students, and mental health counselors to primary care physicians. Because mood disorders--including major depression and bipolar disorder--can play a role in suicide, there is also a discussion of the relationship between depression and suicide. Finally, for those interested in some facts about suicide, there is a brief summary from data and research in the United States and in South Dakota.
